Jeanne Ruddy Dance seeks a Director of Development to help make the Company a stronger organization by maintaining the current level of support as well as establish a broader base of contributed support.
The Director of Development is responsible for all aspects of development in consultation with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, Board leaders, and on occasion, with a consultant.
These responsibilities include:
– plan for development of contributed revenue from individuals, corporations, foundations, government, and special events;
– supervise a full-time Development Assistant; and,
– coordinate fundraising efforts of the annual campaign, the capital campaign, the endowment campaign and support of Campaign Committee activities.
Additional undertakings in which the Director participates are:
– implement strategies for operational fundraising, including
annual and direct mail appeals,
planning and execution of special events,
corporate, foundation and government grant seeking (including proposals and reports),
coordinating with auditors and other independent contractors and all constituent development activities;
– provide support to fundraising volunteers as appropriate including the design of development initiatives for individual Board members;
–assist planning and preparation of fundraising budgets and management of electronic and hard copy development files;
– provide support for gift processing, reporting, and donor stewardship, including acknowledgements, recognition, and other donor benefits;
– represent JRD at events and conferences.
A qualified applicant would need to be organized, creative, collaborative and enthusiastic, with a minimum of two years’ development experience in annual fund or major gift fundraising and grant writing. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Job status: Full-time salaried position with health benefits. The Director of Development reports to the Managing Director and is a member of the management team of Jeanne Ruddy Dance.

School and Facility Operations Manager
The School and Facility Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of management of the facility including the School of Jeanne Ruddy Dance and the rental programs at the Performance Garage, under the direction of the Managing Director. This manager will work with the development and marketing departments on strategy and implementation of revenue-generating initiatives for the school and rental programs as well as monitor the school and facility operation expenses.
Responsibilities related to the School of JRD include the scheduling of classes, registration, and relations with students, parents, and teachers. Responsibilities in managing the Performance Garage include maintaining the facility calendar, orientation and booking of rehearsal and production rentals, contracts and invoicing, and overseeing facility maintenance and upkeep.
The qualified applicant will possess excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to multi-task. Bachelors degree with a minimum of two years related experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Mac, database programs and basic web creation programs a plus. Preferred experience in the performing arts, particularly dance. Full time salaried position with health benefits.
