Dear Friends,

Entering the summer months, a sense of excitement has sparked at Jeanne Ruddy Dance as we conclude our most artistically successful year. The season began with a touring engagement to Bloomsburg University, and continued to Cape May Stage and The University of Nevada, Las Vegas to appreciative audiences across the country.

The critically-acclaimed world premiere of MonTage à Trois held at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts as part of the PIFA festival was an achievement in itself and drew new friends to Jeanne’s work. Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center, Inc., wrote:

 “Our Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts has now drawn to a close and I wanted to share that one of the absolute highlights for me was Jeanne Ruddy’s MonTage. Jeanne’s creativity and embrace of a sight specific location for her premiere was gutsy and completely rewarding. She reflected our Festival themes of collaboration, innovation and creativity to the max!”

We also heard from Marguerite and Gerry Lenfest, who were moved to support the company with a special gift of $25,000 after their attendance at MonTage. They have challenged us to match their gift dollar-for-dollar so that Jeanne Ruddy Dance can enter the 2012 season in a position of financial and artistic strength. Such contributions will allow us to accomplish three important goals of the company for the coming year:

• the production of a world premiere for our talented dancers,
• the re-launch of our outreach program to under-served youth,
• and the continued operation of the Performance Garage as a home for over 55 Philadelphia companies.
