Bears

Kim Y. Bears has been a dancer
with Philadelphia's own Philadanco since 1981 and in 1989 was promoted
to the position of Assistant Artistic Director. In 1988 Ms. Bears represented Philadanco at
The American Dance Festival in North Carolina where she performed two solo
works by Dr. Pearl Primus.
In 1992, she was awarded the prestigious "Bessie," the New York Dance and Performance
Award. Ms. Bears visited Xian/Beijing China in 1994 to perform for the government
of China at their fifth international Arts and Cultural Festival. She received
the 1997 Camerata Award of Excellence from The William Penn High School in Philadelphia
for her outstanding dedication and contribution to the performing arts.
She attended the Duke Ellington High School of Performing Arts in Washington,
D.C. and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of the Arts in
Philadelphia.
